Hi, I'm Baz Navarre

I'm a bi-but-leans-gay trans man living in Northern California, because redwoods. I've spent my life changing things. My career, my location, my identiy... I've studied or worked with everything from retail to being a statistical consultant for wildlife disease. Between those, I've had stints with gemology, military, teaching, biology, theatre, and more. I know a little bit about just about everything.

I tend to move about once every couple years. Sometimes it's within the same state, or even city, it's not always. I've lived in every state in the PNW, plus a few others. I love the ocean, so whenever I have the choice, I'll stay nearby.

It turns out that all of this is the perfect combination for writing. I've met so many people, been to so many places. Learned perspectives I never would have otherwise. My characters write themselves. Literally. I just sit back and let them flow through me. When I write, I'm as excited to find out what happens next as an avid reader would be.

Chronic illness has left me with a very limited life-style, so I mostly just hang out watching figure skating and writing. And doing all the other stuff that nobody tells you writing involves. Like Instagram. So much Instagram. But hey, at least I get to write!

Also, this picture is super not of me, but I'm keeping it for now because he's kinda hot.

My most wonderful assistants

Moirin and Rani. The best cats to ever cat. Maybe.

Moirin is the primary assistant when I write. She's always with me, either sleeping by my side like a perfect gentlelady or on my arm while I try to type like a holy terror. Or jumping on my keyboard. Or literally in my face trying to stick her nose into my mouth (she wants to be very close to me at all times, apparently). She shreds any spare paper in my vicinity. So, you know... She's a mixed bag when it comes to being actually helpful.

Rani is Moirin's backup. For the most part, she stays out of the way and does her own thing (i.e. sleeps in whatever sun she can find in front of a window on one of her many, many perches throughout the house). But anytime Moirin leaves for some reason? Rani's there. Part of that is because they can't stand each other, but the rest is because she wants to help sometimes too!
